DESCRIPTION

Aegean College offers in Greece the BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a programme based on the scientific and applied sides of Psychology. Its objective is to offer students the appropriate knowledge base for the study and understanding of human behavior, to encourage research and to prepare them for postgraduate programmes.

Following global academic principles closely, the students of Aegean Omiros College will have the opportunity to cover all key areas of Psychology such as Personality Theories, Biological Bases of Human Behavior, Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Neuropsychology, Social Psychology and the fundamental principles of Scientific Research. Students are encouraged to participate in internships (work placements) as observers, dealing with children and adults. Upon completion of the programme graduates will have acquired a basic empirical / experiential knowledge fully connected to their academic background. As a result, their academic and professional profile will be greatly strengthened.

It is worth noting that before being integrated into practice, students are prepared by having appropriate Clinical Practice Seminars for psychologists. In addition, students have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in practice and to develop both their academic and professional skills through experimental measurements, roles, simulation sessions etc. conducted in our two modern and well-equipped Psychology laboratories:

a) The Psychometric Laboratory / Research and
b) Aegean College In-house Clinic
At the same time they may take part in the activities of the Aegean College Film Club (Cinema Club). Students watch popular films, which subsequently become the subject of thinking and analysis through scientific lectures and discussion with the audience.

For student practices, Aegean College cooperates with the Dromokaiteio Psychiatric Hospital, the Alzheimer Society, the Galinion Melathron, the Sinouri Psychiatry etc.

BSc (Hons) in Psychology graduates have the opportunity to work with people of all ages and to gain experience in various issues and pathologies (personal development/problems, mental-neurological disorders, emotions management, stress, interpersonal relationships). Graduates can also work in various services / mental health centers in the private and public sector, or work as freelancers with recognized professional rights, in rehabilitation centers, hospitals and in special education. They may also continue their studies at a postgraduate level (Master) joining MSc Foundations in Clinical Psychology.
