ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The programme is addressed to High School graduates or vocational diploma (IEK) holders in a relevant field that wish to follow a career in Physiotherapy.

Entry requirements for Year 1

  • High School leaving certificate (Apolyterion) from a General or Vocational Senior High School (or equivalent)
  • Reference Letter (1)
  • Average knowledge of English (IELTS 4.0 or equivalent)
  • Academic Interview
  • Photos (2)
  • Copy of ID-Card/ passport
  • Health certificate
  • Copy of criminal record

Entry requirements for Year 2

  • High School leaving certificate (Apolyterion) from a General or Vocational Senior High School (or equivalent) in a science discipline with an average grade >13 /20 or
  • IEK Vocational Diploma in “Physiotherapy Assistant” or other Health Profession specialism
  • Reference Letter (1)
  • Good knowledge of English (IELTS 5.0 level or equivalent)
  • Academic interview
  • Photos (2)
  • Copy of ID-Card/ passport
  • Health certificate
  • Copy of criminal record

Candidates without official English language certificates can sit the English language placement test of Mediterranean College.

DESCRIPTION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy by the University of Wolverhampton, an awarded University with TEF Silver in Teaching Excellence Framework, for consistently exceeding the rigorous national quality requirements for UK Higher Education.
  • Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Health Care Profession Council (HCPC).
  • Meets the requirements for attaining the practitioner’s status in Greece, via SAEP of the Ministry of Education.
  • Delivery in the Greek and the English language, with incorporated English language modules to ensure a smooth transition for students.
  • Approximately 1,000 hours of clinical practice in recognised rehabilitation centers and private hospitals.
  • Modern laboratory facilities with latest generation equipment.
  • Guest lectures by visiting practitioners and seminars on contemporary therapeutic approaches (e.g. manual therapy).

The BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy is a comprehensive programme of studies for those who want to pursue the physiotherapist profession. Physiotherapists are integral to optimising functional ability and the quality of life of many individuals. They achieve this through their skills in health promotion and education, exercise prescription and rehabilitation and preventative health care. This course prepares you for a career in physiotherapy by combining university-based and placement experience.

The programme will help students to:

  • Learn how to manage musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory clinical conditions in adults and children.
  • Learn the fundamentals of the therapeutic process such as physical assessment skills and clinical reasoning, and a repertoire of safe, effective prevention and treatment skills, to meet the needs of people of all ages.
  • Develop research skills and learn how to critically appraise the current evidence in the physiotherapy field to inform their clinical practice
  • Train in the most up-to date evidence-based physiotherapy approaches, and explore the multifaceted parameters (structural, psychological, social) that may contribute in a patient’s problem.
  • The programme has been designed by the University of Wolverhampton in accordance to the specifications of the UK Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC), on the basis of which the Physiotherapy academic programmes are accredited. It includes 1000 of supervised practice placements in recognized Rehabilitation Centers and Private Hospitals. Therefore, it is an excellent training ground for professional recognition of graduates, both in Greece and internationally.

INFORMATION

Mediterranean College graduates can apply for registration with the Health and Care Profession Council (HCPC) via the International route. Once registration with the HCPC is completed, graduates apply for professional equivalence recognition with the Ministry of Education (SAEP). Upon recognition from SAEP, graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Panhellenic Physical Therapy Association.

Upon completion of the programme, graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies at post-graduate level in Mediterranean College or start their professional career as physiotherapists.
