The programme is addressed to high-school leavers who wish to pursue a career in the area of Sports Coaching and Physical Education.

A personal interview complements the evaluation of the above documentation.
Cases of candidates with proven knowledge in the field in addition to their secondary education are examined on a case-by-case basis.


The undergraduate programme BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching and Physical Education combines academic knowledge with an “applied” nature, which means that there is a focus on ensuring students to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and experience required to be attractive to potential employers upon graduation. This is achieved through developing a broad-based up-to-date subject knowledge, strong communication skills, and relevant work-based skills. Coupled with this is the need for students to find opportunities to develop and refine these skills in real-life situations, while developing external contacts with those already deployed in the professional sports coaching environment, and to reflect upon that experience in a relevant and professional way. Skilled, active and qualified coaches are nowadays necessary in order to support and guide the improvement of children, players and athletes at all stages of their development.

The programme covers a wide area of learning fields, such as Applied Sports Psychology, Nutrition for Sporting Health, Sport & Exercise Biomechanics, Coaching Principles, Research Skills in Sport and Exercise. The BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching programme will provide students with learning opportunities and experiences to enable them to prepare athletes and sports teams in tactics issues, by utilizing their athletic performance to the maximum.

The academic staff of the School of Health consists of distinguished lecturers, holders of Masters and PhD degrees with extensive research and clinical work, teaching experience at Greek and foreign Universities plus professional recognition in their field of expertise. In their majority they also work in clinics, hospitals, private companies, etc as experienced health professionals (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, medical doctors, etc) who can familiarize students with the latest methods and help them put to practice the theoretical knowledge they acquire in class.


Career Prospects
A crucial focus of any programme is to enable its graduates to be best placed to access related employment. In an area of study such as Sports Coaching, this includes providing students with the opportunity to develop the appropriate applied skills around coaching, as well as experience of the actual working environment. Students will be encouraged and supported to access as many work-related opportunities as possible throughout their programme from when they arrive, as the Faculty of Health has excellent links with external agencies that afford access to both voluntary and paid opportunities.
