DESCRIPTION

Aegean College offers in Greece a high level undergraduate programme which leads to a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy (Applied) degree. The BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy (Applied) programme covers a high level range of scientific disciplines which contribute to the understanding of human anatomy and physiology and recovery techniques through various pathologies of physiotherapy.

The program aims to give students the opportunity to develop the knowledge, understanding and clinical skills needed to apply physiotherapeutic techniques in a safe and effective way so as to promote, maintain and restore physical, psychological and social wellbeing. Emphasis is given on practice. Students acquire the maximum possible clinical experience through six separate clinics, so as to be prepared for work in Greece and abroad.

The program includes more than 1000 hours of clinical practice with the support of mentors covering a wide range of ailments. Students delve into topics such as physiotherapy musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. Moreover, they have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in a controlled environment within the College premises in order to develop the clinical skills needed for their future professional life. Our modern and well-equipped physiotherapy laboratories allow students to practice in physiotherapy techniques safely and effectively but also on simulated physiotherapy sessions so as to develop a physiotherapy treatment based on clinical reasoning.

Aegean College also collaborates with the FILOKTITIS Rehabilitation Center, METROPOLITAN HOSPITAL, the Society for Therapeutic Riding and Hippotherapy et.al. for its student practices. Graduates have the opportunity to work as physiotherapists with people of all ages in a variety of workplaces in the private and public sectors as well as freelancers with recognized professional rights under applicable legislation. They may work in rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, special schools, hospitals, sports clubs and physiotherapy premises offering rehabilitation services to children and adults with musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiopulmonary disorders.

A physiotherapist cooperates with specialists from related disciplines from the field of Health, Education, Social Welfare, such as physicians, nurses, occupational therapists and has a key role in health recovery. Graduates may also continue their studies at a postgraduate and PhD level in Greece or abroad.
