Description
International shipping includes a wide range of activities regarding not only shipping businesses, but also a number of sectors, including shipping services. Several shipping services are provided by insurance companies, law firms specialized in shipping, ship broking companies etc. There are currently 45 law firms (10 of which are British), 8 of the largest insurance companies in the world and 23 P&l clubs (most of which are British) as well as 200 broking agencies only in Piraeus.
The BSc (Hons) Maritime Law & Business programme aims to provide students with a solid base of understanding basic shipping industry rules and operations combined with advanced maritime law knowledge, which are often not covered in common shipping studies bachelor programmes. More specifically, during the first two years, students acquire core values and basic maritime knowledge. In the third year of studies, they specialize in Maritime Law and Judicial Settlement of Maritime Disputes.
