ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 The programme is addressed to high-school leavers who wish to pursue a career in the area of Sport Management.

Required documentation:

  • Completed application form
  • Copy of passport (page with your personal details and photo)
  • Certified English translation of High School Leaving Certificate and mark sheet or equivalent qualifications• Proof of English language proficiency
  • Letter of recommendation / reference from academics or employers
  • Other certificates/degrees

Cases of candidates with proven knowledge in the field in addition to theirSecondary education are examined on a case-by-case basis.

A personal interview complements the evaluation of the above documentation.

Description
The mission of the ΒΑ (Hons) Sport Management at Metropolitan College is to provide students with the theoretical and practical skills in terms of managing sport organizations, both at a local and international context. It offers students the opportunity to enrich their knowledge in management principles, as well as the financial, social, and cultural realm of the sport industry.

Nowadays the sport product is not contained within fields and venues, but also expands to areas such as tourism, recreation, culture, education, health and entertainment. The growth of the sport management field creates a pivotal need for sport organizations to be recruited with specialized sport management experts that will assist sport with strategic management, budgeting, human resources, marketing/sponsorship, venue management, legal issues etc. The main goal of the BA (Hons) Sport Management programme is to equip students with the necessary skills to ensure their professional evolution as efficient members of the sport industry. In other words, to create sport managers that will be responsible for sport programming, budgeting, promotion and community involvement efforts.

Career Prospects
BA (Hons) Sport Management graduates will have the unique opportunity to invest their knowledge and skills and explore a plethora of related sectors that have a direct or indirect relationship with sport, such as tourism, hospitality, entertainment, and recreation. More specifically, they will be able to work at:

  • Governmental entities (e.g. General Secretariat of Sport) or Municipalities (e.g. local youth and recreation programs).
  • European and international federations (e.g. UEFA, FIFA, IAAF, FIBA).
  • International organizations that handle sport-for-development projects (e.g., United Nations, UNESCO).
  • Professional and amateur sport clubs handling participant fees, funding, and donations sport events.
  • Private sport fitness entities, in terms of managing various functions of the business.
  • Tourism and hospitality entities, where the sport manager organizes sport activities during all seasons.
  • Commercial entities such as sport equipment and apparel entities, in terms of marketing and promotion
  • Non-profit organizations related to education, culture, and entertainment that also entail the sport-for-development concept.
