DESCRIPTION

The effective management of people and its relationship to the strategy and direction of an organisation is a key factor in any business environment. This programme sets the HRM specialism within the context of the broader field of business and management so you can demonstrate relevant knowledge and understanding of organisations, the external context in which they operate, and how they are managed.
The programme covers core HRM elements including resourcing, relations and performance. It also focuses on the areas where HRM can add competitive advantage to an organisation in the future, so is ideal for both specialist HR practitioners and generalist managers.
The Postgraduate Certificate stage provides you with a broad recognition of the business environment and context within which the HRM function operates. There is a particular emphasis on leadership within the organisation and the HRM function.
The Postgraduate Diploma stage builds on this foundation with a more in depth exploration of a range of specialist areas selected from the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) Qualifications Advanced Diploma menu and aligned to the CIPD Profession Map, ensuring the CIPD rules of combination for the CIPD Postgraduate Diploma HRM are satisfied. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of training, learning and development and employee performance management.
At the Masters stage, the Independent Study allows you to explore in greater detail, and from a more focused strategic element, an area of your choice, in agreement with your programme leader and tutor. This brings together all of your learning and will provide evidence of a link between HRM and the potential improved business performance.
Throughout the programme, using both theories and practice, you'll explore, assess, evaluate and discuss strategic management and policy level issues. You will also be encouraged to apply learning to your work place. Additionally, you will be provided with opportunities to create and develop a personal skill set which is vital for your future HRM career, and maintaining your professional status through continuous professional development (CPD). On completion you will be able to assess HRM specialist, professional and generalist functional knowledge and its application, and appraise its influence and impact throughout an organisation. You will recognise and evaluate the relevant knowledge and skills relating to successful leadership and management within a diverse cultural context and an ethical framework. You will be able to contribute to the development of appropriate HRM strategies, policies, procedures and change programmes within a dynamic business context.
