The BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy is a comprehensive programme of studies for those who want to pursue the physiotherapist profession. During their study, students learn how to manage musculoskeletal, neurological and respiratory conditions in adults and children. The curriculum, apart from training students in particular treatment techniques, focuses on developing their clinical reasoning and counseling skills, encouraging their participation in research activity and developing their team working skills with colleagues and other health professionals.

The programme has been designed by the Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) to meet the requirements of the UK Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) and the UK Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, on the basis of which the Physiotherapy academic programmes are accredited. Therefore, it is an excellent training ground for professional recognition of graduates, both in Greece and internationally.

The programme lasts 3 or 4 years, depending on the prior academic background of students. The first two years are taught and assessed in Greek and the remaining two are taught and assessed in English. The programme consists of 30 and 60 credit modules. A third of the curriculum between Year 2 and Year 4 is delivered an assessed on professional practice.

Graduates of the programme, according to the Greek law, are holders of an accredited university degree, professionally equivalent to those awarded by Greek State Higher Education Institutes. If they wish so, they can have their degree recognised by the Greek authorities.

Upon completion of the programme, graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies at post-graduate level or start their professional career as physiotherapists.

By successfully completing the course graduates may work in:

  • Private hospitals and clinics
  • The National Health System
  • Rehabilitation centers for children and adults
  • Rehabilitation centers for disabled people
  • Private physiotherapy clinics
  • Sports clubs
  • Homes for the elderly
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Or be self-employed physiotherapists with private practice.
