DESCRIPTION

 The MSc in Software Engineering offers you the opportunity to study the latest methodologies and development techniques and deepen your understanding of approaches such as real-time programming and functional programming. The programme has been designed collaboratively with industrial partners, giving you the chance to equip yourself with professional skills, and understand the ethical and environmental issues you’ll encounter in your professional life. You’ll also be encouraged to prepare for your postgraduate career with coursework designed to help you develop sophisticated intellectual capabilities in research, critique, synthesis and innovation, and enhance essential skills such as group working and report writing.

Duration

Full-time students are expected to complete the programme in 18 months and part-time in 36 months. Classes are scheduled normally on Friday afternoons and Saturdays so that they do not conflict with students’ job and other commitments.

Graduates will be employed in a variety of roles ranging from software project management to software development and have very successful careers working for software consultancy companies, specialised software development businesses and the IT departments of large institutions (financial, telecommunications and public sector). Many of these jobs require a knowledge of particular application or development environments. What binds them together are the requirements of carrying out these tasks in a software engineering context.
